Maui County Council Reorganization

According to a Maui County News Release, Danny A. Mateo (Molokai) will chair the Maui County Council and Michael J. Molina (Makawao-Haiku-Paia) will serve as Vice-Chair during the 2009-2011 council term, which begins January 2, 2009.

Council is expected to adopt resolutions formalizing the council’s organization at a meeting in the council chamber at 2 p.m. on January 2, 2009, following the council inauguration at 10 a.m.

In addition,

• Joseph Pontanilla (Kahului) will again chair the Budget and Finance Committee
  
• Gladys C. Baisa (Upcountry Maui) will chair the Land Use Committee
• Michael P. Victorino (Wailuku-Waihee-Waiehu) will chair the Water Resources Committee 
• Bill Kauakea Medeiros (East Maui) will chair the Infrastructure Management Committee
• Jo Anne Johnson (West Maui) will chair the Economic Development and Recreation Committee
• Sol P. Kaho`ohalahala (Lanai) will chair the Planning Committee
• Wayne K. Nishiki (South Maui) will chair the Public Services Committee

Council is made up of nine members.
