Popular Science Ranks Honolulu in Top 50 Greenest U.S. Cities

Using raw data from the U.S. Census Bureau and the National Geographic Society’s Green Guide, Popular Science Magazine ranked 50 U.S. Cities for its "Greeness".  

A total of 30 points were awarded in the following four categories: Electricity (10), Transportation (10), Green Living (5), Recycling/Perspective (5).

Honolulu scored a total of 19.9 as follows: Electricity (6.0), Transportation (7.8), Green Living (2.6), Recycling/Perspective (3.5). This placed Honolulu at number 14 on the list of 50 cities. The top two cites were Portland and San Francisco.
